I got a negative notification badge on mail and I'm not sure what this means, does this occur with other apps as well? I've personally only experienced it with mail.

It probably means the index is corrupt. You could try Rebuilding the mailboxes in the Mailbox menu.
Select a Mailbox, then choose Rebuild from the Mailbox menu.
Oh okay, it disappeared later and never reappeared but I was just curious. Thanks for your help!
In my case, I observed that it is directly linked to the reception of spam mails. If you delete it (or them), the badge will disappear ... until the next spam.
